The most successful CricketForce ever with Bognor Regis CC
How long does it take to paint a 300 metre long fence? Well, if you were at Bognor Regis Cricket Club on Saturday, you would have seen that it takes 21 minutes.
Luckily, 155 people were on hand, all armed with a brush.
Bognor featured as an ECB showcase at the weekend, and welcomed the support of Sussex and England Women's off-spinner Holly Colvin (pictured, front), Sussex seamers Chris Liddle and Jordan Rollings (second left and far right respectively), former England captain Mike Gatting, and Ashes winner Chris Tremlett (second right), who joined the 155 people from the local community, all of which joined forces to paint the fence.
Former Sussex captain John Barclay also helped out to improve facilities at the club as they became the latest to benefit from the scheme which is celebrating its tenth anniversary year.
A new electronic scoreboard and new changing and scoring facilities are the most eye-catching developments at the ground, and Bognor Chairman Bernard Burns said: "NatWest CricketForce has given a great boost to the club and the community.
"It's very good for young people and Bognor Regis Cricket Club will only benefit from the people that are here today and those who want to join the club."
Tim Shutt, Sussex Cricket Board Development Manager said: "Saturday at Bognor Regis CC was a truly excellent spectacle. To have so many members of the local community gathered together to improve the facilities at the town's cricket club was great to see.
"Furthermore, as is the essence of CricketForce, there is no doubt that many of Saturday's 'New Faces' will choose to be part of this great family club for years to come, whether it be in a playing capacity or helping out behind the scenes."
CWO was pleased to be able to lend our support on the day, and will be taking part in the fund raising golf day the club are holding in May. We wish the club every success in the future and will continue to support them however we can.
