CWO is pleased to announce some of our latest projects...

St John the Baptist, Hyde Park

Working as a Principal Contractor for the PCC under the direction of Molyneux Kerr Architects, CWO are carrying out a complete internal re-ordering of the church, including new Purbeck stone flooring, under floor heating, new toilets, electrical outlets, PA system and sound loop induction system, joinery work, remedial plaster and redecoration works.

Consecrated on 26th January 1832, the church, designed by Charles Fowler at the behest of the Commissioners for Building New Churches, was built to service the then growing community around Connaught Place. Originally known as St John's Chapel or the Connaught Chapel, the chapelry became a parish in 1859.

Pitshill House, West Sussex

Under the direction of Kier, CWO is acting as a specialist subcontractor undertaking the cleaning, dismantling, rebuilding and repair of the stone facade. CWO are also carrying out some additional works to the backing core, lime rendering, and supplying new stone elements to both the main building and a new pool house to be situated in the grounds.

Located in the heart of the Sussex countryside, the Grade II listed neo-classical house is considered to be one of the most important country houses in West Sussex. Built by the Mitford family during the latter part of the 18th century, the estate has been in a state of 'picturesque decay' for a number of years, with the present project intended to both restore it to its former glory and create a practical, modern, family home.

The Chapel of St Mary and St Nicolas at Lancing

Similar to previous phases of work carried out to the chapel by CWO, the project will involve complex scaffolding inside and out, removing, shot blasting, zinc spraying, powder coating, and re-tipping the ends of the saddle and ferramenta bars, minor stonework replacement and repairs, pointing, cleaning, waterproofing and minor repairs to the leaded lights.

The chapel, which forms part of Lancing College, was commissioned by Revd Nathanial Woodward, college founder, in 1868 and building continued until 1911. Designed by R H Carpenter, this beautiful example of Victorian Gothic Revival is said to have the one of the tallest church interiors in England at 94ft - only York Minster, Liverpool Cathedral and Westminster Abbey are higher.

Bramshill Police Training College, Hampshire

CWO is currently carrying out works to the Tudor brick retaining garden walls, including areas of rebuilding, replacement of individual bricks to stable sections, as well as re-pointing and reinforcing cracked sections. The project, which involves specially making five different types of Tudor style bricks, follows on from previous similar works carried out by CWO.

The Grade I listed Jacobean mansion house set in 300 acres of Hampshire countryside has been used as a centre for higher police training since the 1950s. CWO is also carrying out works to the facade of the main house, including replacement of eroded and structurally dangerous mouldings and carved stonework, cleaning, pointing, shelter coating and minor artificial repairs.

The Priory Church of St Bartholomew the Great, West Smithfield

Working as a Principal Contractor for the Church under the direction of Martin Ashley Architects, CWO is currently carrying out repairs to the North transept and North triforium roofs, which will include re-pointing, brick restoration and new leadwork.

The Church, which was founded in 1123, has been in continuous use as a place of worship since 1143. An active Anglican / Episcopal Church, it survived the Great Fire of London, bombing raids during both World Wars, and with its reputation for wonderful architecture has been used as a set in a number of films and television programmes.

Victorian Conservatory, Slindon College

CWO is currently undertaking restoration work to the Victorian Conservatory at Slindon College. The work includes replacement and repair of structural timber, re-making doors and windows, replacement of broken glass, overhaul of the iron window opening mechanism, applying a safety film to all glass, and painting and decoration to the whole structure.
