New Build Stonework » Queens Gallery, Buckingham Palace

The Queens Gallery at Buckingham Palace is a collective name for what are in fact eight different areas of new work to an extension at Buckingham Palace to house the Queens Art Collection.  

CWO was the specialist nominated subcontractor to Wates for the detail design, supply, fabrication and installation of the Bath & Portland stonework. All the production & design for the Queens Gallery was carried out at CWO’s workshops in Chichester.  

The Queens Gallery restoration and new build  works consisted of The Graphic Art Gallery, The Garden Pavilion Bridge Link, New Entrance Hall, The Portico with eight fluted columns.  

The Queens Gallery conservation also included major re-build to the ’Nash’ stairs where the original door was removed and replaced with a new taller door. Most of the new stone used for The Queens Gallery London was Portland and Bath stone.

Awards Winner  

The Queens Gallery was Highly Commended in the New Build category at both the Natural Stone Awards 2002 and the Natural Stone Craft Awards 2003.
